I choose wire
for my medium. I thought how hard is it to manipulate wire? I was in
for a big surprise. Imagine and putting your thoughts to work
through you project was difficult. You could not be too aggressive
or easy. I went through quite a bit of wire before the finish
product. |

For
my art project it was difficult for me to find a picture that I felt
any motivation to copy. I’m not a conceited person but I got this
feeling that the best thing I could draw was myself. I figured that
if I could handle seeing all the imperfections of myself, and copy
exactly as I saw them then I could handle drawing anything else. The
shading was definitely a challenge. It was difficult to go from
doing the light to the dark. I’ve always done it the opposite, dark
to light. Either that or just do an area at a time. Although there
are many artists that have done self portraits one I found stuck
out.
Zinaida
Yevgenyevna Serebryakova definitely deserver her space among
respected artists. I’ve done a project similar to this once but I
used a picture out of a magazine and it just didn’t seem as
personal.
